hello,
I would like to get some bids on what it would cost to make a functional clone of the old [login to view URL] dot com web site. It need not have all the little additional options that were on that site, but all its major functionality must be there and working properly. The site must look professional and function properly and without errors. The site must be cross-browser compatible, search engine friendly and simple to use. As a free-lance programmer, I'm sure you're familiar with the way it worked - posting questions, payment amounts offered for answers, feedback system, answer search, etc so I won't go into that detail here. If you ever answered any questions there that would be a big plus as then I know you were familiar with its operation. Please tell me which questions you answered so I can look to verify.
Programming languages:
Please suggest the database and what language the site should be programmed in and why. I will go with the language most recommended and I will let that be known before I close this post. I will probably be using the 1and1 dot com developer package hosting, unless you have some other strong recommendation. I am open to any language you want to program this site in, but it must be search-engine friendly.
Payment:
Upon acceptance I will deposit the money into escrow and release it as the project continues. The final one third of payment will not be released until I have tested and found the site and its administration error free. Price is somewhat of an issue as google found it unprofitable to continue [login to view URL] dot com and, although I don't have as much overhead expenses as google, I might find this to be a waste of my money too.
Feedback:
I am open to using those programmers with little or no feedback if you can demonstrate your abilities from some other source with creating entire web sites. But I will not pre-pay (pre-release) any amount of money unless you have ten or more relevant (ie complete site creations) good feedbacks and no bad feedback here. Money will only be released at milestone points throughout the project. Regardless of feedback, the final one-third payment comes after the project is completed.
If you send me a list of sites you've worked on in the p.m. board, please tell me what part of the site you worked on, or if it was the entire site you created.
Subcontracting:
Either you personally, your group or your business must be the ones doing the work. Subcontracting is not permitted. I had a situation where I posted a job here and the winning bidder simply took the job and posted it on rent-a-coder. I found out as it took him two weeks to begin my work, then there were communication delay problems as everything I emailed him he had to email to his subcontractor and wait for the reply of his subcontractor. If, during this project, you must subcontract part of the job out to someone else, please be honest and let me know before you do that. If I find you subcontracted this project without letting me know first, you will not be paid.
Communication:
Additionally, if there is not an email communication progress report at least once every three days, the project will be considered abandoned. No additional money will be released and it will be re-listed here on scriptlance again.
You must provide a phone number and I will call it to speak with you before beginning work on the project.
Support is expected for a period of time after the project, and any bugs found to be repaired. Let me know your support policies.
Thank you for your time and good luck bidding. I hope we work well together.
Steve
