We need a core scheduling engine built to run on MSSQL 2005. This should be built as a service that has an API interface to allow it to interact with, other software, web applications and a gui.
Essentially, the engine should run as a windows service. We currently run 3 separate instances of SAP Business One on a hosted cluster and it's desired to add an appointment scheduling engine as a service along side of that system. The scheduling engine has two main tables: appointments and technicians. Both tables will need to be able to have fields (that are at the moment unknown) referenced through the api interface. We currently work with the SAP Business One DI API and the object model in SAP is very much to our liking. We would then write all of the filler to connect our applications and services to the scheduling data (via SQL queries directly) or modify appointments via the API. For those developers familiar with SAP Business One's DI API and use of user defined fields, that's the way we want it to work.
An appointment object will have about 30 attributes (Appointment ID, Customer ID, Technician ID, Date, Time, Latitude, Longitude, Appointment Type...) and a few methods (Add, Update, Cancel, Put On Hold...). The Technicians object will be similar.
Here are some other requirements:
(1) Must be able to add user defined field later down the road. These should be accessible through the API.
(2) Database is MSSQL 2005 and Upgradable to MSSQL 2008.
