My Drupal 7 website is reaching its resource limits on a shared hosting account. I'm looking to optimize the site so that it runs smoothly and doesn't reach resource limits. Possibly by optimizing "database queries to make them more infrequent and efficient." The database itself needs optimization and is quite large.
I got this message recently from my host:
It appears your account is hitting the memory limits built into the server. I see a number of these processes:
/usr/bin/php /home/crimemag/public_html/[url removed, login to view]
That appear to be stuck in a loop and use more and more memory until the server finally stops them. It appears this has been happening for a while, but there might be extra traffic today that is causing the account to run out of memory, displaying the blank page. Please let us know if there's anything we can help with.
I do see some entries in the database restriction log:
[Tue Feb 11 01:16:16 2014] crimemag SLOW limit 30 current value 30 thread 29789926 query - DELETE FROM background_process
[Tue Feb 11 02:41:30 2014] crimemag SLOW limit 30 current value 30 thread 29811486 query - DELETE FROM cache_form
[Tue Feb 11 16:44:32 2014] crimemag SLOW limit 30 current value 30 thread 30052229 query - UPDATE background_process SET start_stamp='1392155042.971536', exec_status='2'
