I am looking to create an easy pc for every day users. I need a website, with a billing system, payment setup (TBD), and basic OS.
My project would be a remotely hosted operating system. I need a web based operating system where users can quickly login to their own personal settings from an array of methods, including the website, USB drive, and a thin client PC.
Our operating system will use the Google services (docs, gmail, calendar, etc...) for their basic user functions, and it will use a music on demand system like [url removed, login to view] to offer music...
Nothing would actually be saved on the thin client or usb drives.
I need some type of operating system that can remotely login and get its information like short cuts and application settings.
Please checkout eyeos.com, youos.com, buzzword.com.
Using an eyeos style of operating system, I am looking for a remotely hosting operating system. The system/website will need to have a reoccurring billing system, shopping cart (10 items at most), and user registration setup. I would offer free trials and demo accounts too.
My OS will have all of the basic functions of a typical OS;
- Music (Deezer.com music player)
- Web Browsing
- Word Documents*
- Power Point*
- Virus Scan
- File Storage
Most of these things (with *) just need to be integrated to sync with Google
I also want to offer a business edition which supports sharing between its users, again... the google services business edition does most of the work, but chat is very important.
To make my project successful I want a few more key utilities;
- Bootable USB drive to access the OS (makes any computer, your computer)
- USB drive application to access the OS (windows & apple compatible)
- Bootable Compact Flash setup (to boot on a thin client that does not support floating point)
Im thinking a striped version of puppy linux that makes setup of network config quick and easy, but also "boots" my os for them to use.
My goal would be to have a simple, solid state computer to access my os. With solid state technology I can create a stable computer system for end users to enjoy.
Future applications would include;
- Accounting Software (something like quick books)
- Lots of Games...
credit card system: TBD (not paypal... maybe 2checkout or some hard wired system)
ok, im sorry to keep making changes but I have lots of good ideas going...
I want to have 3 basic types of users;
*Business Users- This would be designed to be integrated into a business structure allowing users to access their work email, share contact information, etc... Maybe the ability to limit/restrict certain websites too.
There would need to be a user and IT/ manager (to add user accounts).
*Family Users- This would be designed for a family to use. Parental controls and the ability to limit program access for per defined settings. Allowing parents to limit the amount of time the child spends on the internet or using the chat program. The ability to view browsing history would be good too.
*Standard Users- These are everyday people like us that just want a clean operating system to use the internet and check email.
