I am currently working a java application that will among other things transfer a file from a remote machine unto a server that is on the internet. The remote clients connect to the internet via a proxy server with a firewall. These remote users are created as members of defined groups and information both about the users and thier groups are stored in the database on the server. This information includes each group's path to the file to be copied which can be changed at any time without the knowledge of other users in the group.
A user within a group logs on to my application on the internet and attempts to transfer the file from where ever it is located to the server for further processing. The file to be transferred may be on a machine other than machine from where the transfer is being launched. Upon log in of the user, my application is expected to retreive the path to the location of the file as earlier stored on the database and find the file automatically and transfer it to the server.
The remote machines will not allow FTP services to run but won't mind JRE plugins as long as it is compatible with an another applet that requires 1.3.1 runtine enviroment.
I deploy my application on the tomcat appserver but with IIS as the webserver and oracle as the db. The operating system is Win Xp.
Any suggestion must be lite and must be natively integrated into my existing application.
