Java Applet Development

We have a requirement for a Java developer with a strong Linux background to use our Unix simulator java applet as a foundation/framework for developing four (4) more java simulators. The course material and overall lesson plans required to create the courses, and the prototype applet source code will be provided for the developer. A prototype of the simulator can be found at: <[login to view URL]> The source code and documentation for the simulator can be found at: <[login to view URL]> All work performed on this project must be in accordance with Learn Security Online, Inc. documentation requirements (reference: [login to view URL] file). The mini-courses will consist of the following: * Snort IDS * Unix Command-line Cryptography tools (ssh, scp, stunnel, gpg, pgp, etc) * Command-line Compiling & Debugging (gcc & gdb) * Unix Forensics Each mini-course will consist of 10 ??" 20 lessons that should take the user no more than 10 minutes to complete each one. The lessons should be easy to follow along with, and as technically accurate as possible. The java applets should be able to update the LSO user. As stated above, Learn Security Online, Inc. will provide the overall course material, overall lesson plans, and content for each mini-course. This project must integrate into our website, and must implement user tracking with our MySQL database. This functionality has already been implemented in the prototype code, but may require enhancements. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform I would like for the developer to have a strong Java and *nix background for this project. It will run on a Red Hat 9/Apache server and connect to and track the users progression through the tutorials on a PHP/MySQL website.
