Hello Prospective designer and or design team,
Projected project is to set up a browser based quasi-game, including a 2D map of a randomly generated galaxy.
Galaxy map must be interactive and include multi-level view:
1. View type 1 should show entire galaxy map broken up into 4 selectable quadrants.
2. When user selects a quadrant view type 2 should activate showing the the quadrant split into a 25 x 25 grid, where each grid box is a "sector".
3. When user selects a sector grid box view type 3 should active showing the sector split into a 25 x 25 grid, where each grid is a "system".
4. When user selects a system grid box view type 4 should activate showing the system split into a 25 x 25 grid, where each grid is a "loc"
A grid "loc" would either contain empty space or a planet.
5. A planet view would also need to be made which would include multiple text based listings including the following planetary statuses:
A. What resources are available on the planet (Each plant will produce 5 different "basic resources"), and in what amount those resources are available, which would be randomly determined for each planet.
B. What building exist or are available to be built on the planet, i.e. mines to gather resources, refineries to process the resources, armories to "Mech Tonnage", etc there may be up to 10 different building types each performing a different function (mostly industrial).
C. Planet defense status including what defensive units are present on the planet (i.e. Mechs.) Units will be represented as "Mech Tonnage" there will not be individual units to create, simply a number representing "Mech Tonnage".
D. Ships in orbit. There will be 10 different ships types.
In game units:
There will be limited in game units, consisting exclusively of "ships". There needs to be no graphic for the ships, and they can be represented by a simple icon. Ships should be able to be stacked onto the same grid "loc", up to 10, possibly 20 ships per grid loc.
Ships will need to be able to have combat in game, but very simple, ship to ship combat.
Planetary assault combat will be fought outside of the browser interface using the Mechwarrior Online game, which results to be submitted to a different in game view called "Battle Results"
Ship classes will include:
Each ship will have a certain amount of hit points, and will be able to do a certain amount of damage. The combat system for ship to ship battles is open as of right now and flexible based on how hard it would be to develop.
Dropships will need to be able to carry varying amount of "Mech Tonnage", i.e. a light dropship can transport 300 Mech Tons across space, a dropship can transport 500 tons across space, etc. amounts are variable and should be easily modifiable for me at future points if I decide I need to change them for game play. Dropships need to be able to unload their mech tons on friendly planets into storage, and onto "enemy" planets into a special "attacking" holding slot until battle is resolved.
Freighters will be similar to dropships, but they need to be able to haul resources, or finished products across space transferable to and from planets.
Idea, dropship(s) will transport mech tons from friendly planet storage to enemy planet "assault beachhead" on the planet being attacked.
Each planet should have its own "Planetary Battle Screen" (PBS).
Combat will be fought in the mechwarrior online game, once combat is finished the User designated as owner of the mech tons in the assault beachhead and the user designated as owning the planet being assault will be able to report the battle results on the "PBS" screen. And the next phase of battle will begin.
