For a project I am working on, I need to be able to write directly to the sectors on a floppy disk. I have looked all over the place for some VB code to do this, without luck. But, I have found some C++ code that can do this.
So, it is my understanding that I am simply able to wrap this C++ code in a COM wrapper and make the desired calls from VB. All I would need to do is include the Dll... or whatever from within the VB project and then make the calls.
So really, all I am asking for is to have some C++ provided by myself to be placed in a COM wrapper and provided to me in an object so that i may easily go and make a heap of calls to the floppy disk.
It is my understanding from other that this should take less than 10 minutes to complete for someone who knows what they are doing.
ONE) A DLL or an object that can be included in a VB6 application to make calls to the provided C++ code that will enable direct access to the needed sectors on the floppy disk.
TWO) A BASIC test application in VB that will write data to a sector, and then read it to show how the component will be used. [The author is not highly versed in C++]. Writing some data to a sector, waiting and then reading it would be sufficient.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
I do not know which version of C++ the code was written in, but I am hoping it is MS 6. This code needs to be used and accessable by an executable without external dependancies to frameworks or wahtever[ie - .NET]
