I am looking to produce a set of web page templates for a variety of topics and styles/themes. The templates will be populated by either XML data or a database. The content will be short news items, some with images and some without. Each news item should live it its own container (DIV) within the page. The news items data will be in a consistent format.
The layouts should use very basic HTML and all of the formatting should be controlled by CSS. I would like to re-use the base HTML across multiple themes/websites and the CSS will be responsible for giving entirely separate look and feel for the separate themes/websites.
(pls see [url removed, login to view] as an example of a basic HTML page being dramatically enhanced by a variety of CSS files).
Initially I would like to produce 1 template for a specific theme (tba) with 5 news page layouts and possibly 1-3 other pages (contact, about etc.). This would mean that the deliverables would be the following:
1. An overall approved look and feel (graphic design, layout)
2. A standard style sheet (CSS)
3. A standard set of XHTML files
4. All relevant graphics and other supporting files
The resulting files must be format well across all major browsers (IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, Chrome) and all relevant operating systems (MAC, Windows, Unix).
The HTML and CSS files must be reusable so that all you need to replace to create a brand new theme/layout is to provide new graphics files and a single CSS. The files must also be easy to maintain and understand, using proper standardised naming conventions and formatting.
I may accept the usage of XSLT if it makes it easier.
Once I am happy with the initial design and implementation, I will commission new CSS files to have new themes and layouts for new websites.
In order to be successful for the bid you will need to demonstrate:
1. Good web design/graphics and layout capabilities
2. Clean and easy to understand CSS and HTML code that you have written
5. Both a technical and creative knowledge of the web

Hello. It is very important that I see good examples of design work and how HTML and CSS are used. The key to this project success will be a single HTML file that is changed to different layouts and themes by new CSS files, very much like how [url removed, login to view] works (this is an example only - I will be making a commercial site out of each theme, but the originating HTML file will be structured exactly the same). Thank you for your bids. I look forward to looking at more examples of your work.

One final point. You must be confident/competent in developing good looking web pages (graphics) by using only DIV tags and CSS structures. I would like to create the pages WITHOUT HTML table structures at all. You must demonstrate your capability around this in order to be chosen. Thank you all for your postings. I will make a decision in the next 48 hours, pending replies from the above statement.

If you have received a personal reply telling you that you are in the remaining 5 candidates, please continue to read on. If you have not received a personal message from me stating that you are part of the final 5 - I thank you for your time and will not require any further replies from you. Note to final 5: ------------------------------------------- The example design I am asking for should be for a Britney Spears theme. Think girly, pop entertainment, American flag in logo, sunglasses, pink etc.
