I need a basic contact / address book application? for a small company. It will be used only by about 4 users within the company (i.e. intranet), so I dont need something heavy weight!
It should run as an ASP (old-style ASP!) application, with the databased stored as an MS Access 97-2003 format for ease of management.
To give you an idea how simple it could be, you can see a sample from this site: <[url removed, login to view]>? and I also have some ASP code samples.
In essence, each contact will have the basic contact/address book fields such as Name, Company Name, Phone No, Address1, Address2,? web, email, Notes.. etc. I will provide a full list of the fields involved.
But I do need some important enhancements which are:
1) **Fuzzy/Soundex search**: The interface can be google-like, so that initially the user can just type in a name, a word, or anything, the application should ranked the most likely contact entries for viewing/editing
2) **Paged output**: after a search, if there are many contacts matching the search criteria, the ranked output from (1) should be paged (say 10 per page) and the user can click to select the contact.
3) **Formatting in the Note field**: There will be a Note field for every contact that we put additional notes about a client/contact. This field should be formatable with styles such as BOLD/ITALIC, font sizes, etc.. and the ASP application can store and display it. ( kind of a WYSIWYG/? rich text format editor). I know that it is a standard
4) **Import/export facilities** so that we can import / export contact data.
Other additional features that you can come up with will be nice (e.g. AJAX, file attachments, etc) But to get the basic working will be a good starting point.
