I need help getting a perl/cgi script to work properly and wish to have added a couple of new features!
I purchased this script a few months ago and I cannot get a response from the company I brought it from and their web site has been down for some time now.
Basically the script adds to a log every time an external web link is clicked from within my site and it is meant to send an email to the owner of that web link.
The logging part works ok, but I cannot get it to send out the email.
There is an admin page where the links and their corresponding email addresses are entered.
It also emails me the previous day’s stats, which does seem to work ok.
The two additional features I’m after are -
1. To show the referrer links on the same page as the 'view logs'/'full list' page.
2. To add a process where on the out going emails to the customer’s web link, there could be a removal link at the bottom for them to click and be automatically removed if they wished to be?
The current setup would require a tick to be put next to the particular email/link in the admin area for them to be removed. Obviously leaving a manual option would be good as well.
I have been advised that there are two files, [url removed, login to view] and [url removed, login to view] that I've been told are encoded, probably encoded for faster parsing?
There will be quite a large amount of clicks that this script will need to handle!
This is an example of one of those files, less the banner ad at the top!
Please take a look!
[url removed, login to view]
all the other files that make up the script are readable.
I don't know if the problem lies in the Perl code for the customer’s sendmail part?
See demo admin page - [url removed, login to view]
My remote web hosting company (not the host above) have advised that the sendmail address for their servers requires it be linked to one of my email accounts for security, so in the [url removed, login to view] file (there are a number of files that make up the script) I end up with a couple of lines like this -
$mailprog = qq|/usr/sbin/sendmail –fwebmaster @ [url removed, login to view]|;
$myemail = qq|webmaster @ [url removed, login to view]|;
Note: mydomainname being my own domain name being put in the script and no spaces before and after the @ sign, had to show it like this as the getafreelancer site saw it as an email address and blanked it!
Here is an example of how the links integrate into my own site -
[url removed, login to view]://[url removed, login to view]
i.e. so I just have to add [url removed, login to view] To the front of all the links I wish to be logged/tracked.
I am either after help with getting the script working as it should do, but with the extra features added for showing the referrer links on the same page as the 'view logs'/'full list' page & the removal click link option in the customers out going emails.
a complete rewrite of the script to do the same thing as it should do already, but with the extra two features.
I can provide more detail if required, if I have not given enough detail.
