we have a league that runs well with an excel sheet with extensive functions. However, we have to enter all data into the excel sheet every week from all the players who played their games. By hand. We have 31 Data points to enter and the sheet calculates 5 scores from those PER match. Each player plays at least 3 matches each week and we have 100+ players, with the ability to host unlimited players and matches.
The excel then calculates all the entries and spits out our new league table and match overview for the next week, along with some statistics, graphics etc.
The pairings (who plays against who) change during the league. Sometimes there are groups of 4 players, sometimes 7 or 8. Also, players leave and join the league during the season. We have automated most of that in excel.
However, we run several leagues and it becomes a lot of work to put everything in by hand and we need an extra excel file for each league.
We need a solution that automates everything.
We are open to suggestions. Simple, clean, fast, intuitive is what we are looking for. Players should be able to enter their data for each match themselves, so we don't have to do it. The data then needs to get into a form where we can put it into our excel file OR we need to build all of that as a standalone mobile or web app..
Our thoughts are:
Either a Front-End Data Entry, where our players can make an account on our existing wordpress website and enter the scores through contact form 7 and then into a database that is coined after our excel sheet... or the data is just saved in a way that we can copy it at the end of the week and paste it into the excel sheet. But we are looking for full automatization actually. As we grow and get more and more leagues.
So maybe a mobile APP or web based application where users make an account, sign up for the leagues they play (or we sign them up through an admin backend). When they finish a match against another user, they enter the scores - the opponent gets a notification to "confirm" or "deny" the scores entered. Once confirmed, the score goes into the database/excel coined data system where it then ends up in the right place and each week, the application automatically shows the new table and match overview to each user, as well as all the statistics and graphs.
If denied, the user has the option to enter a counter suggestion of the correct scores and the first user is asked to confirm. If confirmed... see above. If denied again, the match is put on hold and admins notified of the problem. We then ask the players what happened.
Our data sheet has several safety features. For example, if unusual scores are entered, it reminds us to manually review that match. If one player has better stats than the other but still lost (which happens), we get a reminder as well etc.
We would like this finished / first test Version ready by March. It should be fully operational by March 20th. 2022.
Obviously we answer questions, need regular updates from you and test this throughout the programming. We should have the option to design it with you (the outside look, as we have a branded look and feel).
