MySQL Concurrent reads and writes to database

1. I have a single Maria DB, MySQL database running on a cloud server. The server is 4 CPU, 16GB RAM. The tables are InnoDB type (50 total tables)
2. We're having the issue with concurrent writes to the MySQL database. During peak time we can have as many as 100 writes every 5 seconds. This is causing some of the writes entries into the database to be skipped.
I believe we're going to need a high availability setup that can handle concurrent inserts and reads into the database. But also allow us to scale up as more writes and reads are occuring.
I'm looking at options that aren't expensive where this can be done.
