I’m looking for a motion designer to create a short, high-quality trailer (20-30 seconds) for a literary novel publishing in September 2026. This is not a slideshow or a standard book trailer. It needs to feel like a premium, editorial piece of work, bold, provoking and must-want. The trailer should be driven by the line: “The weird thing is, I’m more interested in my mother now she’s dead.” This line should sit at the centre of the piece. The tone should be restrained rather than dramatic, with a focus on pacing and typography. You will work from the artwork on the attached file. The novel follows a daughter in Los Angeles uncovering the hidden past of her Iranian mother after her death. What begins as grief becomes an unsettling investigation into identity, inheritance, and a life she never knew existed. It combines dark humour with emotional tension and should feel layered rather than explained.

Hi, This feels less like a typical trailer and more like a restrained editorial piece, which is exactly where strong typography, pacing, and subtle motion really matter. The central line you mentioned already carries a lot of weight, so the execution needs to let it breathe rather than over explain. I’ve worked on minimal, typography driven motion where tone and rhythm carry the narrative. I’d approach this with controlled pacing, refined transitions, and a cinematic feel that builds curiosity without becoming overly dramatic. The focus would be on making that line land strongly, supported by visual layers and atmosphere that hint at the story rather than fully revealing it. Warm Hello! We can create a cinematic, typography-led motion trailer that feels like a premium editorial film piece—minimal, restrained, and emotionally charged rather than a traditional book promo. We’re a team of 62 professionals with 9+ years of experience in motion design, editorial storytelling, and high-end typographic animation for publishing and film campaigns. Here's how we can help: Design a 20–30 second motion trailer built around pacing, silence, and typographic rhythm rather than standard “book trailer” visuals Center the narrative around your key line, “The weird thing is, I’m more interested in my mother now she’s dead.” with deliberate, impactful timing and visual weight Translate your attached artwork into a cinematic motion language that supports the themes of grief, identity, and hidden history Use restrained animation techniques (fade, drift, tension cuts, kinetic typography) to create emotional depth without over-stylization Balance dark humour and emotional tension through pacing, contrast, and visual restraint rather than explicit storytelling Deliver a polished 20–30s final trailer optimized for web, social, and publishing promotion formats We specialize in editorial motion pieces where typography, timing, and negative space carry the emotional impact—closer to film title design than advertising.
