The part of this job that goes wrong is never the typing, it's the handwritten pages and the tables that scanned crooked, because that's where someone guesses at a digit and you don't find out until the spreadsheet won't add up. So I keep a running list of every character I wasn't sure of and send it with the files, those cells marked in yellow, and I'd sooner have you spend two minutes confirming eight cells than have a guessed digit sitting inside a phone number or a date. Word files come back with the headings and spacing matched to the source, tables land in Excel as real cells with numbers stored as numbers so they sum, and I do a second pass against the source before anything goes to you. About how many pages are we talking, and roughly what share is handwritten? That changes the time more than anything else and I'd like to give you a straight estimate, not a low number that grows.
