I need your expert help to make operational a previously working Exchange 2010 Server installed on a Server 2008 R2 VM. The original DC VM had problems and no longer boots.
On the Server 2008 R2 VM which has the Exchange 2010 Server, I ran DCPROMO and removed it from the first Domain and removed it's AD GC Roles. I then rebooted and ran DCPROMO again and created a new domain in a new forest. Even before all this DCPROMO reconfiguration, Exchange 2010 Server was not fully functional. Outlook from outside of the network was not working. The Exchange Server Management console can not connect saying some problem about reaching a powershell server. Did not try Outlook from inside the network. OWA was working.
But now nothing is working. The Exchange Server Management console can not connect saying it can't reach a domain with Exchange Server installed on it...
Need to fix the Exchange 2010 Server functionality and preserve the existing mail store and mailbox accounts.
I have the option to remove the AD DC roles from this Server 2008 R2 VM that's running the Exchange 2010 Server...switching back to Workgroup and then run DCPROMO again to connect it to a duplicate VM backup I have of the original DC Server 2008 R2 VM.
Let me know how is fastest and still best way to proceed. Want to keep the total fees to $100 for this project!
