Hello, I am looking for help with a MATLAB/Simulink project related to power systems and photovoltaic generation. I need assistance with connecting a three-phase solar PV power plant / PV inverter model to a medium-voltage distribution network in MATLAB Simulink / Simscape Electrical. The main goal is to simulate a grid-connected PV system connected to a medium-voltage feeder and analyse how the PV system affects the network, especially voltage levels and active/reactive power flow. I currently have two separate models: 1. A medium-voltage distribution feeder model * The feeder is based on an IEEE distribution test system, preferably IEEE 34-bus feeder or a similar medium-voltage radial distribution network. * The feeder operates at medium voltage, for example around 24.9 kV and 60 Hz. * I need to connect the PV system to one selected bus, preferably bus 832 or a similar medium-voltage node. * The feeder model should allow analysis of node voltages and power flow before and after adding the PV system. 2. A three-phase PV / solar inverter model * The PV system should include a solar array or equivalent PV source. * It should include a three-phase inverter connected to the grid. * Ideally, it should allow control or adjustment of active power P and reactive power Q, or at least have access to P/Q measurement. * It would be very useful if the inverter has Q control, Qref, iq_ref, or another way to change reactive power output. * The PV plant does not need to be extremely detailed, but it should be suitable for studying the effect of PV generation on a distribution feeder. What I need help with: * Connect the PV system to the medium-voltage feeder through an appropriate transformer and breaker. * Use a transformer such as 400 V / 24.9 kV or another suitable LV/MV transformer, depending on the PV inverter output voltage. * Make sure the connection is electrically correct in Simulink / Simscape Electrical. * Fix any compatibility issues between the PV model and feeder model. * If direct physical connection is not practical, create a suitable equivalent PV model as a P/Q injection or controlled source connected to the feeder. * Help me obtain simulation results such as: * node voltage before PV connection, * node voltage after PV connection, * active power output of the PV plant, * reactive power output of the PV plant, * effect of changing reactive power on the feeder voltage profile. * Ideally, prepare the model so that different cases can be tested, for example: * no PV, * PV with Q = 0, * PV injecting reactive power, * PV absorbing reactive power. I can send the existing MATLAB/Simulink files for both models: * the feeder model, * the PV / solar inverter model, * any required initialization scripts or parameter files. If my existing models are not suitable, I am also open to using another appropriate model, as long as it meets the basic requirements: * medium-voltage distribution network, * three-phase PV or inverter-based generation, * possibility to observe or control active and reactive power, * compatibility with MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape Electrical. The work I need is not to write my entire thesis, but to help me technically set up and debug the simulation model. I mainly need help with the Simulink connection, model compatibility, transformer/interface setup, and obtaining meaningful simulation results. Experience with the following would be very helpful: * MATLAB Simulink, * Simscape Electrical, * Specialized Power Systems, * three-phase PV inverters, * grid-connected inverter control, * IEEE distribution feeders, * P/Q control, * medium-voltage distribution systems. Please let me know if you have experience with this type of model and whether you could help with a short debugging / modelling session.

Hey, Yes, this is exactly the type of Simulink/Simscape Electrical work I can help with. I have experience working with distribution feeders, grid-connected inverter models, PV integration studies, transformer interfacing, power flow analysis, and reactive power control in MATLAB/Simulink. From your description, the biggest challenge is usually not the PV model itself but making the feeder and inverter models compatible, especially when they come from different libraries, solver configurations, or voltage levels. I can help connect the inverter to the selected MV bus through the appropriate transformer interface, resolve initialization and stability issues, verify P/Q measurements, and set up test scenarios to evaluate voltage profile changes under different reactive power operating points. If the detailed inverter model proves difficult to integrate, I can also implement an equivalent controlled P/Q injection model so you can still perform meaningful voltage regulation and feeder impact studies. The end result will be a clean simulation setup where you can compare base-case operation against multiple PV operating modes and generate results suitable for academic analysis. Feel free to send the feeder model, PV model, MATLAB version, and any initialization scripts. I can review the files and quickly identify the best integration approach.

Hello, I'm Cora May, and I can help you integrate your three-phase PV/inverter model with your IEEE-style medium-voltage radial feeder in MATLAB/Simulink and Simscape Electrical. I’ve worked on grid-connected inverter studies focused on voltage impact and active/reactive power flow, including proper three-phase transformer and switch/breaker interfacing and resolving model-compatibility issues (units, reference frames, port types, and measurement signals). We’ll connect the PV plant to a selected MV bus (e.g., bus 832) using the correct LV/MV transformer ratio and ensure the interface behaves physically; if direct physical coupling isn’t practical, I’ll build a consistent PV equivalent that injects P/Q into the feeder network. You’ll be able to extract node voltages before/after PV, PV P and Q outputs, and run controlled scenarios for Q=0, reactive injection, and reactive absorption to quantify voltage profile changes. If your inverter controller already provides Qref/iq_ref, I’ll wire it so you can sweep reactive power cleanly and verify sign conventions. Can you confirm what inverter voltage level and three-phase rating you’re modeling, and whether your feeder model is already in 24.9 kV/60 Hz per-unit with compatible base definitions?

Hello, The most important part of this project isn't the PV model or the feeder model individually—it's ensuring the interface between them is electrically correct and stable for meaningful power-flow and voltage-impact analysis. Based on your description, my first step would be reviewing both existing models to verify compatibility between the inverter output, transformer configuration, grounding scheme, and feeder parameters. Once the connection is validated, I would help establish the required test scenarios, including no-PV operation, PV with Q = 0, reactive power injection, and reactive power absorption, while ensuring active and reactive power measurements are correctly captured. What stands out is that you already have separate feeder and PV models available, which means the focus can remain on integration, debugging, transformer/interface setup, and obtaining reliable simulation results rather than rebuilding the system from scratch. One question: which MATLAB/Simulink release are your models currently built in, and are they using Simscape Electrical, Specialized Power Systems, or a combination of both? I'd be happy to review the models and help get the complete grid-connected PV simulation working correctly. Best regards
