Hi, I am a Mechanical engineer, I have a long experience in FE analysis. I've developed a code for FE analysis on MATLAB, in particular some codes about Stress Intensity factors (J-integral) of a model similar to yours (it was a steel sheet). I also have already done a 3D FE analysis of reinforced concrete, with steel bar elements. I could basically use the knowledge I've already got in order to deliver to you a MATLAB code performing your simulation, and compare it with the empirical results you already have.
