I would love to work with your 7th–8th grade learner as a mathematics tutor. I believe I would be a good fit because my teaching approach focuses not just on completing homework, but on making sure the student actually understands the concept and becomes confident enough to solve problems independently. I can help with Algebra, Geometry, Probability & Statistics, along with regular school assignments and exam preparation. My teaching style is interactive and student-focused. I prefer to: Explain difficult concepts using simple, real-life examples. Break complicated questions into small, easy steps. Ask the student to explain the concept back to me so I can make sure they genuinely understood it. Identify weak areas and give extra practice where needed. Keep the sessions friendly and stress-free so the student feels comfortable asking questions. Provide regular feedback on the student's progress and areas that need improvement. Free Trial Class I would be happy to conduct the first session as a completely free trial class. This will allow you and the student to experience my teaching style and see whether we are a good fit before committing to regular sessions. I read through your requirements for your 7th-8th grader and I think I can help — though I'd like to offer online sessions instead of in-person, and explain why that could actually work better for you. Why online can work well here: No commute time lost to travel to a library — that time goes straight into extra practice or a slightly longer session instead. I use a shared digital whiteboard plus Desmos/GeoGebra live during sessions, so concepts like variable manipulation, angle relationships, and data interpretation get worked out visually in real time — the same "explain it back to me" approach you're looking for, just on screen instead of paper. Sessions can be recorded (with your permission) so your child can rewatch a tricky explanation later — something that's not possible in person. Scheduling is more flexible since we're not coordinating around a physical location. How I'd run it: 60–90 minute sessions, 2–3x/week, structured exactly as you described: current homework first, then circle back to reinforce shaky concepts with fresh practice problems. Quick written progress notes after each session so you can track where we're improving and where extra review is needed. Comfortable across Algebra, Geometry, and Probability & Statistics at the middle-school level.
