This is a very simple project.
I need 2 Mac applications to some file manipulation.
Back ground: We use Filemaker as our main database application. I need the ability to rename files in a directory and delete files in a directory. I would live to be able to do this within filemaker via a script, but filemaker does not have the script command to do that function. Filemaker does have a command that will run an external application and then return control back to filemaker once the external app is done. For the this project I just need these two stand-alone apps for these two specific functions:
First, is an application when called will delete all files in a specific directory. Will not delete subdirectories, just the files. The application will not accept user input nor will it have a user interface. The name of the directory to be deleted will be hard coded into the application. The app will run, perform the function, then exit.
Second Application: Given a directory with a single .jpg file. I can't control what this original file will be called, it is generated automatically by a digital camera. But there will be only one file in the directory. The application will rename that file to Picture1.jpg. If there happens to be more than 1 file in the directory, the application will only rename the most recently created file to Picture1.jpg. Again, the specific target directory will be hardcoded into the application, no user input or user interface. The app will run, perform the function, then exit.
The resulting programs should be applications that will run on a MAC under OS X10.6. Would like this written in applescript or in objective C in the Xcode environment. Delivery of the source code is required so that I can go in and change the source directory targets that are hardcoded. I also want to learn from seeing the code.
I have Xcode 4 installed on my Mac and have done some very light programming in other languages, but learning objective C and Xcode is taking too long and I need to get back to my business which is in real estate. I would think a skilled programmer could write these apps in a few hours or less.
This is the first time I have used Freelancer, but will have other more complex projects if this one goes well.
