I’m building a fully customized, high-end residence in Irvine, California and need an independent lighting designer who can take the project from concept to construction documents. The scope centres on the living areas and bedrooms, where I want a refined mix of trimless, recessed and subtle cove treatments that integrate seamlessly with the architecture. Your role begins with helping me select the exact fixtures—everything from architectural downlights and linear profiles to accent pieces—then shaping a cohesive lighting concept that elevates the interiors while remaining practical for everyday use. You’ll also develop any bespoke features we identify and detail all architectural interfaces so the general contractor and millwork team can execute without surprises. I expect: • A full reflected ceiling plan (RCP) and detailed lighting layouts for the affected rooms • A complete fixture schedule with product cutsheets, counts and finish notes • Drawings and notes that show how each trimless, recessed or cove element interfaces with drywall, millwork, or plaster reveals • Coordination with my architect and AV contractor to confirm driver locations, dimming protocols and integration with smart control options (voice, app or schedules—final platform still open) • A brief focus-aim visit or virtual session once fixtures are installed to fine-tune scenes Experience on luxury residential builds, especially with trimless linear and cove systems, is essential. Familiarity with Ketra, Lutron HomeWorks, or similar smart lighting ecosystems is a plus, as is the ability to anticipate California Title 24 requirements without compromising aesthetics. If this sounds like your wheelhouse, please share relevant portfolio pages and outline how you would approach the initial concept phase.
