One line in your posting decides whether I can take this, so let me be direct about it. If "shadow analyst" means research support to a named expert, that is ordinary and proper work: sourcing country-conditions material, building the evidence base from COI reports, tribunal determinations, credible reporting and NGO documentation, and preparing it so the expert can form and defend their own opinion. Experts use researchers routinely and there is nothing irregular about it. If it means drafting the opinion that someone else signs as their own expert evidence, I will not do that. An expert report carries a duty to the court and a declaration of authorship, and in asylum matters the person relying on it may have their safety turned on it. That is not a pricing question for me. I am assuming the first. If that assumption is right, here is what I would bring: Arabic is my first language, which matters more in this work than it looks, because a great deal of MENA source material is never translated and the English-language summary of a decree or a judgment is frequently thinner than the original. I read primary sources rather than reporting about them. What I would want to know before quoting: whether output is per report or a retained monthly volume, which countries are most active, and what citation standard your experts require. If I have misread the role, say so plainly and I will withdraw rather than negotiate the point.
