We are seeking proposals for the development of a single webpage with a single table containing data from a Google Sheet. This document outlines the project requirements.
Project Overview:
We have an existing Google Sheet named "nets" that contains a table with 4 columns and 17 rows. The values in this table are changed by an operator every 5 seconds. Our goal is to build a webpage that displays this table data to approximately 500 users and visitors (maximun). The webpage should update the table every 5 seconds to reflect the changes made by the operator. Additionally, we require a caching solution to minimize requests to the Google Sheets API.
The proposed solution should include the following components:
a. Frontend Development:
Development of a responsive webpage using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Design and implementation of a table layout that matches the structure of the Google Sheet table.
Integration of JavaScript code to fetch and display the data from the Google Sheet table.
Implementation of a client-side auto-refresh mechanism to update the table every 5 seconds.
b. Backend Integration:
Utilization of the Google Sheets API to access and retrieve data from the "nets" Google Sheet.
Development of a server-side script to interact with the Google Sheets API and fetch the updated data.
Implementation of a caching solution to minimize requests to the Google Sheets API.
Configuring an appropriate cache expiry time to balance data freshness and API usage.
c. Real-Time Updates:
Implementation of a notification mechanism to achieve real-time updates when the Google Sheet data changes.
Periodic checking for changes in the Google Sheet data using the Google Sheets API.
Sending notifications to the connected clients when a change is detected.
Client-side JavaScript code to initiate a data refresh and update the table in real-time.
Performance and Scalability:
The solution should consider performance and scalability aspects, including:
Optimization techniques to ensure efficient data retrieval and rendering on the webpage.
Implementation of a caching mechanism to minimize requests and reduce server load.
Load testing to verify the solution's ability to handle the expected traffic from 500 users and visitors.
