I need a code snippet created to educate myself. It involves HTML data sent to a compiled online function you create.

This is to be a demonstration so I can understand each component of the project.

It is to use the simplest code as possible to get the task done.

The task is as follows:

Define a basic (no extra code) html webpage that has nothing on it EXCEPT:

Title: Calculate the Hypotenuse

User input for “a”

User input for “b”

Code output for “c”

Calculate button.

On the page it should appear similar to (the input line can just be a box):

Calculate the Hypotenuse

Side a = _____

Side b = _____

The Hypotenuse (c) is equal to _____

<a button> “calculate”

The important part of this project is that the variable input values must be sent an external server side executable that is not visible as native script.

In the language of Windows, the server code must be an online accessible executable.

If it were a windows command prompt, it is the same as executing:

[login to view URL] 10 20

... where calchyp is the non-viewable (of native code) executable and 10 and 20 is the data sent to it.

The execution of [login to view URL] will return the answer sqrt(a^2+b^2) which here is 23.3607

In summary:

Basic html page to get variables and display result

Send variables to a compiled piece of online code that will calculate and return the result

Display the result when “calculate” button is clicked

The deliverable files will contain:

Html webpage code (comments to include where online access to the external code is made so I can replace it with my own site and uploaded code.)

The compiled and source code of the compiled (non-script visible) calculation function. You must provide code and obviously the language/system you used to compile the code. The function is simple, I'd like the code to be as simple as possible, but robust. I will download the system and compile it myself to test it, so don't use a commercial system, it should be free.

The process of sending a variable to a compiled online code and getting a returned value must have some specific terminology associated with it. I’d like to know what the process of sending data to an external function like this is called, and what a compiled, online accessible function like this that returns data to a webpage is called (specifically and accurately in the language of computer science).

Thank you.
