Javascript + Google Maps Modification/Scraping

Objective:
Gather data from a web service that uses Maps API using Javascript and submit the data to another site.
Steps in process:
1. Collect new map center & zoom level from an existing API (already completed)
2. Update map to that new center & zoom level
3. Wait for data/overlay on map to load (already completed)
4. Programatically click some elements on map overlay to force load
5. Scrape data from map overlay (already completed)
6. Send data to existing API (already completed)
Description:
Only steps #2 and #4 need to be completed, and the structure for them already exists. For #2, we are having trouble programmatically moving that map so that the center matches up with a specified zoom level (constant). For #4, we are having trouble programatically clicking on an overlay element in the map. jQuery's click() does not work.
We do not have server side access to the site we are manipulating.
What we're looking for:
- Ability to work immediately
- Experience with Google Maps API and updating the map programatically
- Experience in emulating full click events on Maps overlay objects
- Experience in accessing DOM data through Javascript
Please give some information to verify that you know what you are doing. For example, in general, what steps would you take to move the Google Map without map.setCenter()? How would you go about emulating the click event on the overlay when .click() has been unsuccessful?
