## Freelancer Project Title **Create 24" × 12" Seamless Banana Leaf (Kela Patta) Vector Artwork for Single-Color Gravure Cylinder Printing** ### Project Description I need an experienced **vector / packaging / gravure-print artwork designer** to recreate and professionally develop a banana-leaf / **Kela Patta vein pattern** based on the reference image I will provide. This artwork will **not be used as a normal digital graphic**. It will be engraved/processed for **single-color gravure cylinder printing**, so the final file must be technically clean, fully vector, seamless, properly layered, and suitable for actual production. The design should visually resemble natural banana-leaf veins while remaining a continuous repeat pattern that does not require registration with individual paper plates. ### Exact Artwork Size * Final artwork size: **24 inches width × 12 inches height** * Artwork must be prepared at **1:1 actual size** * Width: exactly **24.000 inches** * Height/repeat: exactly **12.000 inches** * The **12-inch height must repeat infinitely/seamlessly** * Top edge of artwork must join the bottom edge **perfectly with no visible break** * No random cropping at the repeat boundary * No visible seam after cylinder repetition ### Main Design Requirement Across the **24-inch width**, I need exactly **3 prominent main banana-leaf middle ribs / central veins**. Conceptually: ```text 24 INCH WIDTH ───────────────────────────────────────────────────── MAIN RIB MAIN RIB MAIN RIB ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ╱ ───────────────────────────────────────────────────── 12 INCH REPEAT ``` The three major ribs should be distributed aesthetically across the complete 24-inch width. Between the major ribs, create natural banana-leaf secondary veins. The design should look organic rather than mechanically repetitive. ### Leaf Pattern Style The reference image will be provided to the selected freelancer. The artwork should contain: * 3 major banana-leaf midrib lines * Fine secondary veins * Some medium-weight veins * Natural variation in spacing * Slight organic curvature * Banana-leaf appearance * Continuous pattern * Elegant and premium look * No unnecessary decorative elements I do **not** want every small vein to have identical spacing because that will look artificial. It should feel like a natural banana leaf while still being easy to reproduce in gravure. --- # Very Important: Single-Color Artwork This is for **one-color gravure printing only**. Use: **1 spot color only** Preferably the artwork can be shown in dark green for visualization, but technically all printable elements must belong to the **same single spot-color separation**. Do not use: * CMYK mixed colors * RGB effects * gradients * multiple green colors * Photoshop effects * shadows * raster textures * transparency effects * glow * photographic leaf images Variation in visual weight should come from: * line thickness * vector shapes * optional controlled screening/tint values if technically appropriate for gravure Everything must remain compatible with a **single printing cylinder / single ink station**. --- # Seamless Cylinder Repeat — Critical Requirement The design will run continuously on a printing cylinder. Therefore: **Y-axis / 12-inch direction must tile perfectly.** For example: ```text TOP OF ARTWORK ──────────────────────────────── DESIGN DESIGN DESIGN ──────────────────────────────── BOTTOM OF ARTWORK ``` When repeated: ```text COPY 1 ──────────── COPY 2 ──────────── COPY 3 ──────────── COPY 4 ``` there must be **zero visible joining line**. The freelancer must test the artwork by placing at least **3–5 copies vertically** and checking that the repeat cannot be detected. --- # Do NOT Design Individual Circular Plates This is extremely important. Do not make artwork like: ```text ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ``` and do not create individual circular banana leaves for each plate. We are printing a **continuous web/roll** and cutting/forming plates later. Therefore the print must remain attractive regardless of where a plate is cut from the printed roll. The artwork should be a **continuous infinite banana-leaf texture**, not registered plate artwork. --- # No Registration Dependency The design must not require: * photoelectric sensor * eye mark * registration mark for each plate * exact print-to-die alignment * exact centre positioning of each leaf A plate cut from slightly different positions of the web should still look acceptable. This is one of the most important objectives of the project. --- # Vector File Requirements The artwork must be **100% vector**. Preferred working/final formats: * Adobe Illustrator `.AI` * SVG * EPS * print-ready PDF * optionally CorelDRAW `.CDR` if you work in CorelDRAW The `.AI` or `.CDR` source file is mandatory. ### No rasterized artwork Do not simply: 1. trace the reference image automatically, 2. place a PNG/JPG inside Illustrator, 3. embed a raster image, 4. rasterize the final pattern. Every printable line/shape should be editable vector paths. --- # Layer Structure The final source file must be professionally organized. Please create at minimum: ### Layer 01 — Major Midribs Contains only the 3 major banana-leaf central/middle ribs. ```text LAYER 01 ├── Midrib 01 ├── Midrib 02 └── Midrib 03 ``` Each major rib should be grouped individually. --- ### Layer 02 — Primary / Medium Veins ```text LAYER 02 ├── Leaf Section 01 ├── Leaf Section 02 ├── Leaf Section 03 └── Other sections ``` All medium structural veins should be grouped logically. --- ### Layer 03 — Fine Secondary Veins All thin leaf texture lines. Group them according to the associated leaf/midrib section. --- ### Layer 04 — Seamless Repeat Construction Include guides/reference objects showing how the 12-inch seamless repeat was developed. This layer should be **non-printing**. --- ### Layer 05 — Technical Guides Include: * 24-inch width boundary * 12-inch repeat boundary * centre/reference guides * print direction * repeat direction This layer should be locked and marked **DO NOT PRINT**. --- ### Layer 06 — Reference Place the original/reference image here. Lock the layer and mark: **REFERENCE ONLY — DO NOT PRINT** --- # Object Naming & Grouping Do not deliver a file containing hundreds of unnamed objects such as: ```text <Path> <Path> <Path> <Path> <Path> ``` The file must be neatly structured. Example: ```text 01_MAJOR_MIDRIBS MIDRIB_A MIDRIB_B MIDRIB_C 02_MEDIUM_VEINS SECTION_A SECTION_B SECTION_C 03_FINE_VEINS SECTION_A_FINE SECTION_B_FINE SECTION_C_FINE 04_REPEAT_CONSTRUCTION 05_TECHNICAL_GUIDES_DO_NOT_PRINT 06_REFERENCE_DO_NOT_PRINT ``` Groups should be expandable and understandable by another designer. --- # Stroke / Vector Quality Artwork must have: * smooth curves * clean Bézier paths * minimal unnecessary anchor points * no overlapping duplicate paths * no stray points * no open accidental paths * no hidden raster objects * no clipping-mask mess unless absolutely necessary * no unnecessary compound paths Curves must be smooth enough for **cylinder engraving**. --- # Printable Artwork Area Final production artboard: **24" × 12"** The printing design should extend exactly to the required repeat boundary. Do not add random bleed outside the artwork unless it is placed on a separate non-printing technical layer. --- # Background The background should ideally be **unprinted / transparent**. Only the banana-leaf pattern will be printed using one ink. Do not create a white printable background. The physical substrate/film will provide the base/background.
