The Statue of Reconciliation
I require a drawing of The Statue of Reconciliation. This is a project I am working on in Sydney, Australia. To give you an idea of the size of the statue, the intention is for a statue as large as The Statue of Liberty.
The Statue of Reconciliation comprises 3 parts:
1. The main part of your drawing should show an Indigenous Australian (Aboriginal) female (to be called Barangaroo) - Barangaroo is standing up, looking into the distance, and reaching out her arms depicting an open offer of reconciliation. Barangaroo should be as large as The Statue of Liberty.
2. The other main part of the drawing is an Indigenous Australian child (girl) (who is daughter of Barangaroo) is at Barangaroo's side, kneeling – Daughter of Barangaroo is kneeling down and reaching out with one hand to a human on the ground. Her other hand rests on the floor holding her steady. People will be able to walk up and touch the child’s hand. The act of touching the child’s hand will be seen as a symbol of an individual’s personal act of reconciliation with indigenous Australians. The daughter of Barangaroo should be one third the size of Barangaroo
3. Both Barangaroo and Daughter of Barangaroo are on top of a 3 story conference centre (the “base”); the shape and materials of the “base” at not important at this stage. Daughter of Barangaroo's hand must reach to ground level (so people can touch the hand)
4. A rough drawing of The Statue of Reconciliation is available on a Facebook page here:
