I work with translators a lot and they give me timecodes for audio interviews, for example in Swahili (Kenya). The timecodes they give me are often wrong and I need a way of getting very accurate timecodes so I am looking for a system that can help them provide this for me.
It must work on phones and desktop, so I am thinking HTML5 but am open to suggestions. I will provide them a link that will automatically load in the MP3 and present a generic system allowing them to check the timecode for a particular sentence (1,2,3 and 4 in my mockup represent different sentences with different timecodes but from the same MP3). The audio will preload and be available in cache (important as they are often working in Africa) and then they will check in order, so let's start at 1.
They will play this part of the file, in this example from 3.05 seconds to 7.15 seconds and then if the need to will change the start and end point for this sentence by using the buttons. So the buttons on the left hand side control the start timecode (00:03:05) so they can add or remove either 0.1 second or 1 second to the begginning. The same for the Finish i.e. add or remove to the end timecode. They can then review this by clicking the play button and amend again as necessary.
Once they are happy with this, they will move onto number 2, 3, 4 etc. This system will be generic and this interface will be duplicated for as many sentences as there are (their could easily be 100 but just using 4 in this example).
Clicking Play ALL at the top will play all the timecodes back to back without a pause i.e. the timecodes for 1 followed by timecodes for 2 then for 3 etc. etc. Clicking Save will save the timecodes in a way that I can retrieve them later.
I would like this started on quickly. Any questions please ask. Thank you.
