Trouble-shoot a pretty simple Home Assistant Green-based automation problem: Following a power failure my Govee thermostats are no longer reporting temperatures via the Mosquito MQTT Integration. Those temperatures control a set of high-window shades and ceiling fans. The H5110 Govee temp are available on my iPhone Govee app. Thermostat diagnostic via the MQTT device info for all the H5110 entities says "This entity is unavailable". Looking for someone with knowledge of these components to work with to diagnose, understand, and resolve the problem.

Hello, Your Home Assistant Green still has the shade/fan logic, but the temperature source has dropped out after the power event. Since the H5110 readings still appear in the Govee app, I’d trace the break between Govee, Mosquitto MQTT, Home Assistant discovery/state, and the unavailable entities before changing any automations. Technical approach: Check HA and Mosquitto logs, broker connectivity, retained topics, MQTT discovery payloads, entity registry state, and the Govee publishing path. Then repair the failed layer and confirm live temperature updates reach the existing automations. Core modules: MQTT broker health check, Govee H5110 diagnostics, topic/discovery validation, unavailable entity recovery, shade/fan trigger testing, and a quick restart/power-loss resilience check. Relevant systems: No public Home Assistant/MQTT case I’d force here; this is a focused IoT/Linux automation diagnostic task around services, logs, device state, and event-driven triggers. Implementation strategy: Start read-only over remote session, isolate broker vs Govee vs HA registry, apply the smallest safe fix, reload only required services, then test real temperature changes against the shade/fan workflows. Questions: 1. Is Mosquitto running as the HA add-on on the Green, or on another device? 2. Are the H5110 sensors connected through Govee LAN, cloud/API, or an MQTT bridge/add-on? 3. After the outage, did the HA Green, router, or MQTT credentials/IP addresses change? Regards, Rohit

Here's what I'd do first with your Govee thermostats: check the MQTT broker connection in Home Assistant. Power failures can disrupt the connection, so ensuring it's up and the topics are correctly configured is crucial. I can deliver an initial diagnosis in 3 days. When can we start? I can have something to show you within 24 hours.

Hi, this is a classic MQTT discovery/availability issue I can debug remotely. After a power cycle, Govee H5110 entities showing 'unavailable' in Home Assistant usually means the bridge feeding MQTT (Govee2MQTT / the BLE gateway) didn't reconnect or isn't republishing retained discovery + state topics, so HA keeps the last 'unavailable' availability payload. I'll check the Mosquitto broker logs, confirm the bridge is publishing to the homeassistant/ discovery topics and the H5110 state topics, fix retained/availability config, and restore the automations driving your window shades and ceiling fans - then power-cycle test to prove it survives a reboot. We handle Linux/service and integration debugging through our Hostifire infrastructure team. - Muhammad Idrees, Global IT Vision Pvt. Ltd

Hi, We are available to take this on and get your Home Assistant Govee MQTT automation working perfectly. The main issue with these automations following power failures is usually the broker connection persistence or the MQTT entity discovery path not re-initializing correctly for the H5110 sensors. Are you planning to keep the current Mosquitto configuration, and would you like us to implement a health check script to automatically re-sync the entities if they show as unavailable in the future? We recently fixed a similar Home Assistant automation issue for a smart home client that needed custom MQTT data flows restored after network instability. We used the MQTT Explorer tools to trace the state topics and corrected the integration discovery settings to ensure the H5110 sensors re-registered automatically. Our fix restored the temperature reporting to the dashboard and ensured the automated shade and fan logic resumed immediately. We are eager to discuss the project further. Reach out to initiate a conversation! Best regards, Quantum Code Solutions

Treat the bid amount as a rough placeholder for now, we'll confirm exact figures once we've had a quick look at what's going on. Sounds like the power cut knocked something loose in the MQTT broker or the Govee integration config, and now Home Assistant can't see the H5110 entities even though the devices themselves are fine (since the Govee iPhone app still shows temps). The shades and ceiling fans are sitting idle until that data flow is restored, which is the real pain here. Here's how we'd approach it: - MQTT broker check: Verify Mosquitto came back up cleanly after the power cut, confirm the broker is running and listening, and check that the H5110 devices re-subscribed on reconnect. - Entity availability: Pull the MQTT topic logs to see if the thermostats are publishing at all, then trace why Home Assistant is marking those entities unavailable rather than picking up the data. - Govee-MQTT bridge: Check whether the Govee-to-MQTT bridge service (if used) restarted correctly, and that it's still authenticated and pushing to the right topics. - Automation restore: Once the temperature entities are back online, confirm the shade and fan automations trigger correctly on the restored data. Budget is small and the scope sounds contained, so we'd aim to walk through the diagnosis live with you rather than a long back-and-forth. After a short scope chat we'll put together a written proposal covering deliverables, timeline and a firm price. Want to jump on a quick call this week so we can take a look at the broker logs together? Best, 96 Studio

Hi there. This is an interesting project. Before anything else, one area I'd pay particularly close attention to is the critical dependency on the Mosquito MQTT Integration for temperature reporting post-power failure. Ensuring seamless communication between the Govee thermostats and MQTT is crucial for the automation to function correctly. One practical execution consideration is verifying the MQTT configuration and checking for any disruptions in the communication flow. A potential risk could be overlooking a misconfiguration in the MQTT setup, leading to data transmission issues. To address this, I would propose a systematic troubleshooting approach, starting with a thorough examination of the MQTT settings and device connections. My question is: Have you recently made any changes to the MQTT configuration or network settings that might have caused the disruption in communication between the Govee thermostats and the MQTT Integration? Regards, Riyaaz

Hi, the problem you faced is a familiar MQTT reconnection issue which means usually the broker losts its retained device topics or the sensors need to re-announce themselves to Mosquitto. I'd check Mosquitto broker logs for reconnection errors, verify the Govee integration's MQTT topic subscriptions are intact, and force a rediscovery of the H5110 entities to restore temperature reporting to your shade and fan automations. I am available at anytime for discussing the project. Looking forward to working with you.

Hi, this is Jorge from IT GLOBAL SOLUTION LLC (FL, USA). I’ve worked on similar Home Assistant automation and MQTT troubleshooting cases, where automations fail due to entity state mismatches, broker connectivity problems, or device-to-topic mapping issues. Your goal is clear: get your Green system back to stable, reliable automation. My approach is to first reproduce the issue by reviewing Home Assistant logs, then validate each automation’s trigger/condition/action against the actual entity states being published via MQTT. I check MQTT connectivity on Home Assistant Green (TLS/auth, broker address/port, retained messages, and last-will behavior), confirm the expected topics are publishing, and verify entities have the correct device class/unique_id so automations don’t point to stale entity IDs. From there, I refactor automations to be resilient by adding safer conditions, using appropriate state templates, and handling unavailable/offline transitions. If needed, I adjust MQTT discovery payloads or the HA integration configuration so topics, payload formats, and units stay consistent. I also like to add lightweight diagnostics (helpers or debug notifications) so future fixes are straightforward. I’ll keep changes clean and documented in your HA configuration so you can extend the setup confidently. Happy to share relevant examples and align on the best structure. Best, Jorge
