We are looking to build a custom CMS cloud based Digital Signage Platform to call our own.
For future reference we like screenhub.com, opensignage.com, and xibo.
The main objective of this DSP is to create custom digital displays and then add playlists of video, animation and jpgs for broadcast.

We need to send dedicated content to players of different dimensions in all locations. (screenhub.com)
Each location/address has players.
Each player will have title and a description with specs of hardware and video player.
Each player will have be able to leave blank, or create multiscreen templates. (onsign.tv)
Each player will be assigned a Campaign(campaign is playlist with stats)
Each Campaign will consist of assigned playlist of content( .mp4 .mov, png, gif or jpeg) a mix must be available.
Campaigns will run for a set loops over time., starting date and time to ending date and time) or in perpetuity)
Player will run on daily set schedule. Sleep during non-business hours.
Individual content can be changed in the campaign and updated on display within 15-30 minutes.
Content will be held in an archive/library. Content is uploaded, named, dimensions, and tagged.
Each player will have location information, size develop a selection of templates here) and dimension information for campaign and content requirements, hours of uptime, and status notification.
It will also have to sync will local Android OS firmware for player control via ID or token assignment.
Run Player Setup file on the Android OS player, Launch the application, Enter ID, or token, and hit save. This should now pair the Cloud CMS to that player.
There are open source display software options that we could start with and modify, strip etc…

We like this layout, and even want to further simplify from this for our narrow casting.

We notice that most are stable android based systems running a cloud based CMS that is linked through some sort of mounted .apk on each player. For example, you load the .apk on the player, connect to wifi, it pings the website and adds the player through a pin or code system, as an option in the CMS. You then attach a campaign to that player and it pushes the content from the cloud to the local player. It then pings the campaign every 10, 20, 30 min etc...and adjusts for any changes that may have taken place.
Everything else is just features.
