ThunderCats community site - wordpress redesign contest

Hi! My name is Mark and I run [login to view URL] It is a fan website dedicated to the wonderful ThunderCats cartoon and toys from the 1980s. We have been running this fan / community site for nine years and we're the busiest ThunderCats site on the net. We have 2,300 members in our forums and we actively update the site with new content, and work with toy and statue makers and Warner Brothers to promote cool ThunderCats products. SCOPE OF THE DESIGN The scope of the project is the overall design and look and feel of the whole site. We want a redesign that it is modern, visually stunning, easy to navigate, and we want it to be themed with ThunderCats imagery, colours and "feel". We want the forums to be updated also design, syles and fonts etc. to work on the wordpress and xenforo forums so that users have the same navigation experience throughout the sections of the site. Nothing about the current design of the site is sacred. However, we do need effective ad placement to be accomodated in the design. Font wise, we want to make sure that users of the site can easily read the site so we don't want anything overly dark or hard on the eyes. I've attached a picture of classic lettering called Revue that was used on the vintage toys. We think it MIGHT be cool to use this sparingly in the site maybe for headers. Overall it doesn't work as the text for the body... but perhaps there is another font you might suggest that would "fit" with the revue font. You don't have to recommend revue, i'm only including it as a reference because it already has an imprint on the mind of fans. We want the chosen fonts to be readily available to your average web user, so they need to be able to view the font in the three main browsers. Red and blue seem to be the colours that most jump out to fans from much of the art of the show and packaging design of the figures and toys. We're open to the use of other colours, based on what you see in the attachments and in the "additional art elements" link... which gives you the introduction sequence frame by frame, you can consider using these images in your design. In the reference attachments I've also put some Star Wars images there that I like, we don't want to use these specific images on the site obviously but I like the minimalist feel it has while still being of easily recognizable characters. So these are there only to give you an idea of the kind of imagery we like, where you can clearly tell who the characters are without it being too distracting to the content of the site. I'd like the design itself to complement our content rather than dominate the screen. IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR HIRE We'd like you to mock up your vision of the design. We need to know that you can design for our type of site and community. Please provide a mock up in any of these formats: Photoshop files; Wordpress installs (avada theme preferred) Other - just let us know so we can be sure we'll be able to view it (might not have all softwares) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR MOCK-UP - Colour palette - Font selection for headers, body, menu and nav bar etc. - Layout for front page, forums, content pages - Header, menu and nav bar layout TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS We're using a wordpress theme (avada) in which the blog and site content is managed.
