Character Creation Design Brief
PP are looking to develop a character that is immediately recognisable with the company and what it
stands for in terms of corporate value, company mission etc.
It should be an icon/character that is memorable & personifies the company across the main segments of
the business across all of its communications.
It should resonate with all its stakeholders & the general public.
The design of the Panda/character should be illustration/ but yet life-like and reality-based i.e. cushelle tv
ad, boy in the bubble, despicable me etc
We would like to develop an enduring character that represents PP with a view to establishing longevity -
i.e. there are three key pillars of the business model Panda Waste. Panda Gas. Panda Elec, therefore we
could down the road develop a character for each core business unit/service offering etc.
Each segment could be represented by a ‘family’ member of the Panda member...ie. Panda Power Bear
has an uncle, sibling or cousin that speaks on behalf of/represents Panda Gas etc etc.
There is an opportunity of developing a family of Pandas “...welcome the Panda Family...”
By developing/using these characters, we can bring the Brand to-life adding much needed personality,
beliefs, values & visual identity that would resonate with the target audience/general public. It is also
unique and memorable.
From a visual perspective, the Panda needs to be cute, cuddly & adorable - so could possibly be a Panda
cub with big alluring eyes. However should be able to impart vital pertinent customer & corporate
information. This will resonate with children, and Parents etc.
Cute, cuddly, friendly, informative, loveable, conscientious, cares about the community & environment
[How it communicates]
At some stage along the line, we need to be able to communicate the core Brand/Product/Service
message (ads, announcement etc). Therefore can you provide some suggestions as to whether we run
with no speech (Cushelle/Narrator), speech bubble/statements etc (Print copy) or other?
[Character Attributes] - FOR PRINT
The Panda has to be appear as life-like as possible - i.e. be able to move his/her limbs, eyes, stance,
seating or standing position etc.
It would be great if we were able for it to express facial expressions, i.e. emotion - be happy, sad,
confused etc. This will be a subtle yet key aspect relative to message being communicated etc.
E.g. If we are advising customer how to dispose of their waste correctly, or the fact that Panda recycle
90% of its waste and do not use landfill etc - presumably expressing an emotion helps imparting the
message. It also helps connect with the audience.
[Character Attributes] - FOR TV
To be discussed at a later stage.
I believe giving the character/Panda a name is the final piece of the puzzle. In the interim, i’m happy for
you to suggest some options, however please note, the Client may or may not agree and amy opt to
[Example of Panda]
I managed to source an image of a panda cub - the Client seems to be set on getting something very
similar, however i’ve also attached a couple of mock-ups which have been submitted for an upcoming
