Hi, I'm about to GM a D&D 5th edition campaign and I've put in a magic weapon for one of my players to find. It doesn't have a name yet, but after going through it with him we've come up with a description of the item. I was going to use a regular lightsaber pike image for the weapon showcase, but nothing looked fantasy enough to comfortably fit within the universe. The description of the weapon is as follows:
The haft of the weapon is wrought from the core of an elder cedar, braced with metal banding and black leather wrapping that runs the length of the shaft, the runic wards that have ensured the survival of the wood over the decades of it’s existence line the haft, glowing ever so slightly with a soft yellow light. A small cage sits atop the haft and within its housing sits a small blue crystal that seems to glow when viewed from the right angles. When summoned a blade about a foot in length and blue in colour springs from the top of the haft and acts as a corporeal weapon until dismissed. During the time which the weapon is active it gives off a small aura of blue light and hums quietly.
We saw the attached image and decided it was a good source of inspiration, except the stripped wood segments would be strapped black leather and the runes would sit atop that. Also, the shaft would be a bit longer than this with the crystal housing cage atop it. Thank you in advance, please do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in drawing this item!
