With my extensive experience in game design and development, I understand that tackling bitmask implementations can be quite challenging, especially for beginners in Godot like yourself. However, I assure you that your project is well within my capabilities and I'm confident in my ability to deliver a comprehensive and engaging lesson. In the past, I have consistently been praised by my clients for my ability to break down complex concepts into easy-to-understand modules. This is exactly the approach I plan to bring to your lesson — providing detailed explanations of the bitmasking logic using at least two tilesets similar to those you've shared. And don't worry, I'll make sure that the speed of the course matches your learning pace so that you are able to follow through easily and grasp these concepts. Furthermore, apart from just teaching you how to do this task, I will also make it a point to address any queries or doubts you may have during our session. This way, you can clear all possible doubts and get a hands-on understanding of this process. My aim is not just to complete the lessons, but for you to truly understand and learn. So let's kickstart this learning journey together and make your Godot experience more enjoyable!

Hi there! I’ve spent extensive time mastering Godot’s TileMap systems, specifically helping developers bridge the gap between legacy Autotile logic and the modern Godot 4 Terrain Sets. I recently finished a project involving a high-density 256-tile set for a top-down RPG, so I’m well-versed in handling cases where assets don’t conform to standard 47-tile templates. My goal is to help you overcome these "beginner" hurdles by teaching you exactly how the engine evaluates neighbors to ensure your maps look seamless regardless of your tileset’s specific layout or tile count. Our technical approach will focus on configuring a custom Terrain Set using Peering Bits tailored to your unique dimensions. Instead of relying on standard templates, we will manually define how the engine handles transitions for interior corners and specialized junctions that fall outside the typical 3x3 minimal configuration. I will demonstrate how to use Terrain Connect mode effectively and show you how to utilize Tile Proxies or custom painting patterns if your art requires specific randomization. This ensures your workflow remains efficient and scalable, even if your art assets follow an unconventional or expanded layout. Are you currently working in Godot 4.x, and does your tileset follow a specific format like Wang tiles or a custom RPG Maker layout? I’d love to take a quick look at your spritesheet to prepare a tailored demonstration for you. I’m available for a quick chat or a call to walk you through the setup step-by-step, ensuring you gain the technical independence to manage any future autotiling assets yourself.

Best regards, Billy Bryan
