i have been writing now for about ten years, however i'm not published yet, but i also haven't sent anything in yet except to a self publishing company, which liked my stuff. i however don't want to go that route as i believe God has given me a gift to write and I am believing that i shall get picked up by an agent, which in turn will get me published in the traditional manner. (meaning they pay me for my work (traditional style w/an agent rather than i pay them to get my work published, which is the self publishing route )
i am a Christian and write Christian-themed stories. agents require at least three picture book stories. i have two polished ones, completely ready to be sent out: 1) Miguelito and the Still Small Voice and 2) Somebody has Stinky Feet on Noah's Ark.
i would like to send the agent something a little more than just a picture book, to give them a little better idea of my writing skills/talent. And this is what i believe i could use some help with. I am writing a trilogy. it is about a 10 year old boy, Miguelito, his donkey Jicarro (who talks of course) and his best friend Saraya who's from the middle east. After trying to find out from his parents who God is, along with a number of other questions he has for and about God, he (Miguelito, the same boy from the picture books), decides to venture out on his own to find God, along with his best friend Saraya and Jicarro, his donkey.
each book is around 75 to 90 pages, i guess, but I think what I'm looking for is, I guess sometimes i feel i just need someone to read them and get a bit of advice about them. i need support most of all... someone to take an interest in what i'm writing, besides just myself (not to sell or buy or anything, just to help me get it completed) . someone to bounce ideas off and get opinions from.
i also would be interested in collaborating with someone if they have similar interests as i do
i'd also like to mention that I'm on a pretty strict budget, so this needs to be someone who has a heart for God and for Kids and is willing to do these things for a minimal amount. i guess this (the price) could be discussed. My books are geared to lead kids toward the Lord, or at the very least get them to ask questions about God, create interest in the bible, etc.
the right person to take this job would do it as much for the love of the Lord and reaching kids as it would be for the money.
NOTE: i do not have issues with typical editing stuff like spelling and grammar. what i'm really looking for is help with using the right word at times, help with cutting certain parts, help with certain descriptive scenery and expressing those scenes maybe a little clearer, cutting certain parts and generally keeping the story a little tighter.
thanks for reading. pray about this. I know God will help me find the right person.
