This project is exactly what I am looking for!!!
I wrote a piano course a couple of years ago and used it to teach my students. Also, as a result of sharing it online I got amazing feedback. My online students couldn't wait for the next lesson.
I look back now, with further piano and violin teaching experience (my next book is 'How To Get Distinction In All Your Music Exams' which I feel I am more than qualified to write), book writing skills (Harper Collins are currently reviewing my 120K work of fiction) and design experience (an old employer used me to design their sales brochure, others have used me to design book covers, apart from my own designs which are too numerous to mention) and think - I can do way better than that first attempt!
Since those early days I have learned that each student is different and has a different skill set, talent level and physical ability. All of this needs to be covered to avoid early discouragement. The lessons themselves need to be imaginative, entertaining and easy to understand. Theory also needs to be explained in bite-sized chunks. Practicing needs to be encouraged and practice charts and flash cards included (all of which I have at my fingertips).
As regards the nuts and bolts of designing the course I was thinking that as well as diagrams, photos could also be used, for which I have a rather nice digital camera.
On top of this there is the matter of high quality audio recordings. Fortunately, I have a copy of ProTools (as well as a home studio) which will allow me to generate a recording and sheet music simultaneously if you need it. I am also a music composer so if you want short original tunes in your course then I'm your woman. In fact, I may well end up doing a course myself so rather than being your competitor, perhaps we can consolidate our skill sets and work on this one together.
I will give you something more than any other teacher can - and that is my own tried and tested methods of easy sight reading skills along with my enthusiasm for teaching something I love.
Please see PM for more information.
I look forward to starting this project and working closely with you to ensure your highest satisfaction.
All the best,
Susie
