Task management spreadsheet

My goal is to create a task management spreadsheet in Google Sheets to help track team progress. This spreadsheet will include a feature for deadline tracking to ensure the team is meeting their goals in an organized and timely manner. I am open to suggestions for other features or integrations if needed.
I have started a basic sheet in Google Drive as I thought it would be zero and G drive than it in Excel as it would be easier to share and collaborate?
* I would like to automatically send an email to whom a task has been delegated to when the due date arrives and the task has not been completed.
* I would like the sheet to show the amount of days overdue and be highlighted red.
* I would like to be able to have subtasks functionality for each task if possible. I thought a drop-down menu for subtasks would be a good idea. I'm open to better ideas on this though.
* I would like to be able to attach documents or web links. Should this be done by linking documents that have been uploaded to Google Drive? I'm not sure.
