1/ you will see it's dated February 2011 to Jan 2012 in column B - this needs to be changed to Feb 2014 through to Jan 2015.
2/ you will see column D is a simple yes or no - this relates to VAT charged on outgoings - the spreadsheet assumes that VAT is included in all the outgoings recorded in columns N through to AH. ( see first data entry in column D fuel )
If I enter an N into this column before entering the particular expense the spreadsheet knows there is no VAT included ( see second data entry in column E transport )
All the above is good, however I need the monthly and yearly totals which the spreadsheet calculates, to take VAT or no VAT into account - so for example if you go to line 204 you will see the monthly total which includes the VAT figure - I need it to show the total excluding VAT for accurate accounting and the submission of my annual tax returns. If you got to line 2475 you will see the same monthly summary which in turn calculates the annual figure in line 2487. Maybe this can be achieved by adding another row beneath the existing row at the end of each month - then using these rows to calculate the year end figures for tax return purposes as they wish to see these figures without the vat.
3/ insert a ‘rent’column Z next to ‘insurance’
4 / Finally I need the spreadsheet to calculate total yearly expenses in 7 separate categories to match the Inland Revenue’s Tax Categories.
For example the first Tax Category of expenses is TRAVEL and this needs to be Columns N & O added together minus VAT paid = Total Yearly Expense on TRAVEL
I will provide full details of this breakdown into 7 Tax Categories once the first 3 tasks have been done.
