Re-typing is only worth anything if the copy is exact, so my process is built around verification rather than speed. I run the pages through OCR as a first draft, including the Devanagari, then correct line by line against the images, keeping the Hindi and English sections in their original order and preserving headings, punctuation and paragraph breaks. The Hindi parts get a separate check pass for matras and conjunct characters, because that is where OCR drifts most. Anything genuinely illegible I flag instead of guessing.
