Main objectives of the project are as follows:
i) Voltage regulation: Regulate the voltage at the output capacitor of the buck to 12 V
ii) Battery management system for Li-ion batteries: over-charged, over-discharged and short-circuit protections with balancing function
iii) Choose a test load for demonstration purposes that is rated for 12 V
iv) Choose the number of series and parallel combination of Li-ion cells to ensure current and voltage requirements of load are met while ensuring maximum life of batteries
v) Ensure correct functionality under all cases. A few examples are:
- When supply exceeds load requirements and batteries are full
- When supply exceeds load requirements and batteries are not full
- When supply does not meet load requirements and batteries are full
- When supply does not meet load requirements and batteries are at cut-off voltage
As the freelancer you will have to make sure to cover all use cases and ensure functionality under all cases.
vi) Provide a well documented conceptual design solution that discusses the scope of work and explains the solutions
vii) MATLAB/Plecs simulations that show correct functionality
viii) List of all the components for prototyping
ix) Test document that explains the testing procedure for prototyping
