Preferred Location: India (freelancers with prior experience on Raspberry Pi 4/5) --- Project Overview We are looking for an experienced Embedded Systems / IoT freelancer to develop a solution using Raspberry Pi 5 connected to a USB camera and SX1278 LoRa module. The system should process camera input to detect subject movement, and based on this, send specific commands over UART. Additionally, the Raspberry Pi will receive commands via LoRa and forward them to UART. The project combines computer vision, Raspberry Pi hardware integration, and LoRa communication. --- Core Requirements 1. Raspberry Pi 5 + USB Camera Integration Capture live video feed from USB camera. Perform subject movement detection (e.g., object moving within frame). On detecting movement, send appropriate command via UART to connected device. 2. LoRa Communication (SX1278 Module) Integrate SX1278 LoRa module with Raspberry Pi 5. Receive commands from LoRa module. Forward received LoRa commands to UART interface. Ensure reliable long-range communication (up to 10 km with suitable antenna). 3. UART Communication Define UART protocol to transmit commands to external controller. Commands from Camera Processing and LoRa RX both need to be mapped and sent via UART. 4. Proposed Camera Tasks Configure system so that specific tasks/events captured via camera (e.g., motion detected, object present, etc.) are translated into pre-defined UART commands. Must be extendable for adding new camera-based triggers in the future. --- Deliverables Raspberry Pi 5 configuration and tested working code. Python/C++ based implementation (with clear documentation). Source code and setup instructions (so we can replicate in-house). UART command mapping document (LoRa RX → UART, Camera event → UART). Basic testing report with captured logs/screenshots. --- Nice-to-Have Skills Prior work on Raspberry Pi 5 hardware integration. Familiarity with OpenCV / YOLOv8 / motion detection algorithms. Experience with LoRa (SX1278) long-range communication. Knowledge of Linux / Raspberry Pi OS setup & debugging. Understanding of UART communication with microcontrollers. --- Timeline Expected completion: 1 weeks from project start. Milestone-based delivery (Camera → UART, LoRa → UART, Final integration). --- Budget Competitive – To be discussed based on experience & past work.
