I need a compact, production-ready PCB that fits 320 individually addressable RGB pixels into a ~64 × 80 mm footprint. The LEDs (WS2812C-2020 or similar addressable RGB LEDs) must sit in a precise 16 × 20 grid with a 4 mm centre-to-centre pitch. All LEDs go on the top layer; The 5 V, GND, DIN and DOUT Solder points should be on the rear side, so routing should stay to a straightforward two-layer stack-up. (See the attached image) Please use a HASL lead-free finish and follow the usual application notes: suitably wide power traces for roughly 5 A peak, a clean serpentine data path that lets me chain multiple boards edge-to-edge. (See the image) Vias, stitching and grounding strategy are at your discretion provided the board remains manufacturable at common fabs such as JLCPCB or PCBWAY. Preferred toolchain is KiCad 7; if you work in Altium or Eagle, just make sure I still receive KiCad-compatible Gerbers and PnP data. Deliverables • Gerber, drill and IPC-356 net-list files • Pick-and-place/centroid file and BOM with exact LED footprint reference • Source project in KiCad 7 (or exported equivalent) • Quick fabrication note confirming two-layer stack-up and HASL lead-free finish The design is considered done once it passes KiCad DRC and JLCPCB’s online pre-check with the LEDs perfectly aligned to the 4 mm grid.

Hi, I am an embedded systems engineer with over 16 years of experience designing compact PCBs and taking consumer products from concept through production, including firmware support and manufacturing handoff. I can create this 64 × 80 mm, two-layer KiCad 7 board with all 320 LEDs precisely placed on the 4 mm grid, a clean serpentine data chain, rear-side connection pads, and power/ground routing sized for the stated peak current. I will deliver the complete KiCad source, Gerbers, drill files, IPC-356 netlist, BOM, centroid/PnP data, and fabrication notes for lead-free HASL. Before delivery, I will run KiCad DRC and prepare the outputs to satisfy common JLCPCB/PCBWay manufacturing constraints. Should I use the exact WS2812C-2020 part, or may I select a pin-compatible 2020 LED that is readily available for assembly? I would be glad to discuss the details and get started.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can lay this out as a precise 16 × 20 WS2812C-2020 matrix, with the 320 LEDs locked to the required 4 mm centre-to-centre grid and the board kept within the ~64 × 80 mm envelope. I’ll specifically handle the design around your manufacturing requirements: • All LEDs on the top layer with verified 2020 footprint/land pattern • Rear-side 5 V, GND, DIN and DOUT solder points • Two-layer FR-4 layout optimized for low-cost fabrication • Power distribution sized for approximately 5 A peak, with sensible current paths and local decoupling • Clean serpentine DIN/DOUT routing for reliable cascading between boards • Ground stitching/vias where beneficial without compromising the compact grid • Accurate board outline, mounting/edge-chain considerations and silkscreen • KiCad 7 source plus Gerbers, drills, IPC-356, PnP and BOM Before release I’ll run KiCad DRC and a JLCPCB manufacturing/pre-check, and verify the LED coordinates against the 4 mm grid so there is no accumulated placement error across the matrix. I’ll also confirm the requested lead-free HASL finish and fabrication notes in the final package. If you provide the reference image and the exact WS2812C-2020 part/footprint you intend to use, I can start with the grid and power architecture immediately.

Hi, I’m a Senior PCB Design Engineer with 7+ years of experience in compact LED, IoT, and mixed-signal hardware, delivering 100+ production-ready PCB designs using KiCad and Altium. I have designed 2-layer boards with high-density component placement, controlled power distribution, and fabrication-ready outputs validated through DRC and manufacturer checks. Approach ✅ I will build the 16×20 WS2812C-2020 grid with exact 4 mm pitch and mechanical alignment within the 64×80 mm outline. ✅ I will route 5 V/GND with low-impedance copper sized for ~5 A peak, using strategic vias and ground stitching while maintaining clean thermal paths. ✅ I will implement a robust serpentine DIN/DOUT chain with rear-side solder points and edge-to-edge cascading capability. ✅ I will run KiCad 7 DRC, verify manufacturability against JLCPCB/PCBWay rules, and deliver Gerbers, drill, IPC-356, PnP, BOM, and source files. Questions ✅Can you confirm the exact LED part number/footprint and whether the 5 A peak represents the maximum current for one complete 320-LED board? ✅ Should DIN/DOUT be positioned on specific board edges for the intended edge-to-edge mechanical chain? Best, Yaroslav

✅✅✅✅✅ I can design this as a production-ready 2-layer KiCad 7 board with the 320 LEDs precisely aligned to the required 16 × 20 grid and 4 mm center-to-center pitch. The mechanical accuracy will be treated as a primary requirement, not something checked at the end. I’ll establish the grid and board coordinates first, then build the electrical layout around it while keeping all LEDs on the top and the 5 V/GND/DIN/DOUT connections accessible from the rear. My approach: Verify the WS2812C-2020 footprint, orientation and exact 4 mm grid Lay out the 320-pixel array with consistent coordinates Design 5 V/GND distribution for the ~5 A peak requirement Route a clean, manufacturable DIN/DOUT serpentine chain Add appropriate vias/ground stitching and edge-to-edge chaining provisions Run KiCad DRC and prepare fabrication/PnP outputs I’ll deliver the KiCad 7 source, Gerbers, drill, IPC-356 netlist, centroid/PnP file, BOM and fabrication note specifying the 2-layer stack-up and lead-free HASL finish. I’ll also check the final files against JLCPCB’s manufacturing constraints so the design is ready for a straightforward prototype order. If you confirm the exact LED part number/brightness-current requirement and the edge-to-edge connector/solder-pad arrangement shown in the reference image, I can finalize the routing strategy around those details.
