Design, specify, engineer, and assist in the build, programming, development, and testing of an Hexa-EDF UAV (Drone). This is to be a simple, stable, symmetrical, balanced platform, not a fixed or variable wing system. As opposed to common propellers, the plan is to use 8 good-quality EDFs. Begin with small 50 - 70 mm EDFs, and eventually move to really high-end 125 mm EDFs. We might begin with something like a Tarot T18 frame, and adapt or modify it. I have battery, materials science, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and some motor/ESC experience, and have owned, operated, and worked on some drones and RC aircraft. I need someone with significant experience with flight controllers, autopilots, guidance and positioning, distance and ranging, multi-motor controls, GPS, IMU, etc. I will purchase and provide parts, systems, subsystems, components, and materials you specify. The goal is to build, test, and develop an all electrical (battery; solar-augmented battery) 8 EDF UAV Platform with nominal flight and flight-control capabilities like that of a typical DJI Phantom 3. This is not a racing, sport, or performance platform. I would like to work over a 3 month period with someone who has very significant, demonstrable experience in all or many of the necessary technical areas mentioned here. A good, solid track record of related, or similar, work.
