Instead of using that approach - which is impacted by noise and quality is not good - it is much better to use 315MHz or 443MHz RF. My proposal is: - Transmitter send a magic code every 5 seconds via RF when it is connected to power supply. - Receiver, once received the code, will turn on the relay. After 5s if no code, it will shut off the relay. A special encoding is used so that noise or any interference from other rf source does not impact to the circuit. The range between the transmitter and the receiver is about 30m to 100m. Let me know if you have any question.
