First Project Specifications with Freelancer: 3-24-11
Need Drupal Tutor: I am the CEO of a small business in the United States. I recently hired a local company to design and build a website for one of our companies; they used Drupal as the CMS. Two weeks after the site went live, the design company went out of business and left us without tech support. We do not have a designated IT person, so I have appointed myself as “super admin and site manager.”
A search for local talent failed to turn up someone who is a knowledgeable practitioner of Drupal. After perusing Drupal’s own website, I have decided that they have TMI, with everywhere and nowhere to begin learning Drupal. The book, “Drupal for Dummies” does not have a scenario for my situation (an already built website); it assumes a person is starting a new website and teaching himself.
I have some knowledge of HTML, but not CSS or XHTML. I need a tutor to give me lessons on editing, managing, and making changes to this website. What can you do for me and how much will it cost?
To help both parties out in this negotiation, I suggest that we use the following terms, from least knowledgeable to most knowledgeable, to describe each other: Novice (rule-based behavior, strongly limited and inflexible), Experienced Beginner (incorporates aspects of the situation), Practitioner (acting consciously from long-term goals and plans), Knowledgeable Practitioner (sees the situation as a whole and acts from personal conviction), and Expert (has an intuitive understanding of the situation and zooms in on the central aspects).
I define myself as an EB (experienced beginner) with Drupal. Please tell me your view of yourself when you submit your bid.
