Double-entry bookkeeping is the foundation, not a checkbox to tick later. A lot of accounting apps start with a flat transactions table and add balance sheet logic on top. That works until a partial payment or a rounding edge case creates a discrepancy, and you're reconciling data by hand instead of building. Starting from proper double-entry at the data layer means the balance sheet and P&L are straight queries against the journal from day one. Stack I'd use:.NET with WPF. It's my strongest for Windows desktop work and produces a polished native UI without the overhead of a browser wrapper. SQLite covers single-user cleanly. If this is networked or multi-seat, SQL Server Express handles concurrent access properly, but the schema setup is different enough that I'd want to confirm that upfront. M1: Double-entry ledger, chart of accounts, journal entry UI, SQLite data layer. INR 8500, 2 days. M2: Invoicing, payments, customer and vendor records. INR 8500, 3 days.
