Deciphering an undeciphered script is a low-resource computer-vision + sequence problem, which is exactly the kind of ML I build. On a prior project I trained a CNN pipeline (cleaning -> augmentation -> transfer-learned CNN) that hit 94%+ classification accuracy on noisy real-world images, and I've built OCR/segmentation pipelines for degraded document scans. For your script I'd work in three stages: (1) a reproducible Python data pipeline for the glyph images + annotations (normalization, deskew, binarization, augmentation); (2) a CNN glyph-classifier using transfer learning from a pretrained backbone, since labeled ancient data is scarce, iterating to a sequence/decoder model once per-glyph accuracy is solid; (3) rigorous train/val/test splits + confusion analysis so the results are genuinely publishable. TensorFlow or PyTorch as you prefer, clean Git history and documented experiments throughout. One question: roughly how many distinct glyph classes, and how many annotated/transcribed samples do you already have? That decides whether we go straight to supervised training or need self-supervised pretraining/heavier augmentation first.
