I have a small quiz app built with plain JavaScript (HTML, CSS, and JS). There is no database; it runs entirely in the browser. I originally followed a YouTube tutorial and then replaced the questions with my own. It mostly works, but there are three problems: 1. At the end, my score is too high. The score increases even when I answer incorrectly. 2. The quiz sometimes skips a question, and the “Question 2 of 5” counter is incorrect. 3. When I click Restart / Play Again, the score does not reset to zero; it keeps the previous points. The files are only on my Windows 11 laptop. I don’t really use GitHub. The project is roughly 300–400 lines in total. I need this completed within 1–2 days. In your bid, please tell me what you think is causing problem number 1.

The score problem most likely has two parts. First, a point may be added on any click rather than only when the selected answer is actually the correct one that would explain why the score goes up even on wrong answers. Second, if the buttons stay active after the first click, each additional click can run the scoring again, which pushes the total higher still. If that matches what is happening, the fix is to check the selected answer against the correct one before adding a point, and to lock the answers after the first selection so each question can only be scored once. The skipped-question issue may be related to the code that moves to the next question running more than once, while the restart issue usually means the score is not being reset when the quiz starts again. Since the files are only on your laptop, the easiest option may be a short AnyDesk session. A zip of the folder works too, if that is easier.

The score going up on wrong answers is usually caused by the scoring line firing regardless of whether the selected answer matches the correct one, or by the correct-answer flag being checked incorrectly inside the click handler. The skipped-question/counter issue and the restart score bug also point to state variables not being reset or being incremented in the wrong order, which is very common in tutorial-based JS quiz apps. I can fix the logic cleanly without overcomplicating the app. I work on these small HTML/CSS/JavaScript debugging jobs regularly, especially where a tutorial build was modified later and the original flow broke. Since your app is only a few hundred lines and runs fully in the browser, this should be straightforward to trace, test, and patch properly within your timeframe. If you want, I can also add a quick sanity check pass so each question advances once, the counter stays accurate, and restart always resets all quiz state. - Are your questions stored in an array with a currentQuestionIndex variable? - Does each answer button have its own click event, or are you using one delegated handler?

Hi, Your plain JavaScript quiz app has a scoring bug, a question-skipping glitch, and a reset issue on your Windows 11 laptop. For problem number 1, your conditional check evaluating the selected answer against the correct index is likely failing to trigger, or your increment operator is executing on every click regardless of the boolean evaluation. I fix vanilla frontend logic bugs like this daily without needing a build step or complex frameworks. I will open your files in my debugger, fix the event listener scope causing the score inflation, correct the array slicing on the question counter, and ensure the state object purges properly on the restart click. For $109, I will deliver the fully debugged source files within 1 day, complete with clean variable declarations and tested state resets. Drop the files in a zip and send them over so I can get started.

Hi, I reviewed the project and understand that your plain JavaScript quiz app needs three fixes: incorrect score increases, skipped questions and counter errors, plus a Restart / Play Again reset issue. I’ll work directly with the files on your Windows 11 laptop and keep the solution suitable for the existing browser-based app. For problem 1, the likely cause is that the score is incremented before the selected answer is properly compared with the correct answer, or that the answer comparison is treating a value as truthy. I’ll trace that logic, then correct the question flow and counter using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Web Development practices. I’ll keep the changes clean, easy to understand, and carefully test all five questions, incorrect answers, and restart behavior within the requested timeframe. Let’s discuss here now.

I’d start by tracing the answer-click handler and state variables in your 300–400 lines of plain JavaScript, especially the path used after the final question. Problem 1 is most likely caused by `score++` running outside the correct-answer condition, or by the answer comparison using the wrong property/value after you replaced the tutorial questions; I’ll verify which one in your code rather than guessing. I’ll fix the scoring condition, make the question index advance exactly once, synchronize the “Question 2 of 5” counter, and reset both score and index when Restart / Play Again is clicked. You’ll receive the corrected HTML, CSS, and JS files within 1 day, with the existing quiz behavior preserved. Can you upload the current three files from your Windows 11 laptop here? Muhammad Saad

★★★ JAVASCRIPT SPECIALIST ★★★ Hi, The issue with the score increasing on incorrect answers likely stems from how the scoring logic is implemented. It’s essential to ensure that the score only increments when the correct answer is selected. I recommend reviewing the event listeners and the conditions that trigger the score update. For implementation, I will debug the existing JavaScript code to identify the logic errors causing the incorrect score calculation. I will also check the question navigation logic to ensure that all questions are presented correctly and that the counter reflects the current question accurately. Additionally, I will implement a reset function for the score when the quiz restarts. To get started, I will need access to the project files on your laptop. Please provide the files in a zip format or any other method that works for you. Thanks!

Hi, I can fix the three JavaScript quiz issues and have it completed within your 1–2 day timeframe. For problem #1, the most likely cause is that the score-increment logic is being triggered regardless of whether the selected answer matches the correct answer—often due to an incorrect condition, answer index/value comparison, or event handler. I’ll inspect the actual code to confirm rather than assume. I’ll also fix the question counter/skip logic and properly reset the score and quiz state when Restart / Play Again is clicked. Since it’s a small browser-based project, I can work directly with your HTML, CSS, and JS files without requiring GitHub. I’ll test the full quiz flow, including wrong answers, question progression, final scoring, and multiple restarts, and return the corrected files ready to run.

I see you've got a quiz app running in the browser with some scoring issues and those question navigation problems. It sounds like the incorrect scoring might stem from how you're updating the score when a question is answered, if the score is being incremented regardless of the answer, it could be that the logic for checking correct answers isn't firing correctly. So to tackle this, I'll review the scoring logic first to make sure it only updates on correct answers. I’ll also fix the question counter and, just to be clear, make sure the score resets properly when restarting the quiz. I can have this wrapped up for you within your timeline of 1-2 days, which should work pretty well. I'm ready to get started on this right away, and I’m looking forward to helping you out. I have 8+ years of experience in web development and am familiar with modern web technologies, frameworks like JavaScript and other tools. Problem 1 is most likely in the answer check. Your code adds a point before it compares the clicked answer with the correct one, so every answer scores. I will find that line and move the score update inside the correct answer check. The skipped question and the wrong "Question 2 of 5" counter usually come from the same place, the question number goes up twice. The restart problem is the score variable not being set back to zero. I will fix all three in your existing files. You can send the files directly, no GitHub needed. I can start right away.

I propose refactoring your quiz app to enhance scoring accuracy, flow control, and data persistence for a better user experience. By improving the scoring system to validate only correct answers, ensuring sequential question presentation, and adding a data reset function, we can address existing issues effectively. Additionally, I can assist in setting up version control for collaborative coding and suggest feature enhancements for improved functionality and user engagement. Let's discuss further to optimize your app for long-term success.

Problem #1 is most likely happening because the score update runs before the answer is validated, or because the app is treating any clicked option as correct due to a condition mistake. The other two bugs sound related: one issue in how the current index and score state are managed can easily cause skipped questions, wrong counters, and restart not clearing old values. I’d go through the answer-selection flow first, then test the reset and question progression step by step. I’ve fixed quite a few small vanilla JS apps like this where the UI mostly works but a couple of state bugs make the results unreliable. With a browser-only quiz and no backend/database involved, the debugging is focused and quick as long as the code files are organized reasonably. I can keep the fix lightweight and explain what changed so it’s easier for you to maintain after. - Are the HTML, CSS, and JS in separate files or all in one file? - On restart, are you rebuilding the quiz UI from scratch or just changing visible text and variables?

Hello, I see that you're looking to fix a few issues with your JavaScript quiz app. From what you’ve described, it sounds like the score calculation may be incorrectly incrementing regardless of the answer's correctness. This could happen if the scoring logic isn't properly checking the user's answers before updating the score. With 7+ years of experience in web development, I can help you debug these issues effectively. I’ll first take a close look at how the scoring system is structured and ensure it's aligned with the answers. Then, I’ll address the question skipping and the score reset problem when restarting the quiz. You can check out my work at https://pixoriq.com. Just out of curiosity, how did you implement the scoring logic? Best regards, Ivan Mandinski

Hi, I can see the hidden issue immediately: your quiz logic is likely increasing the score on every answer path, not just the correct one. That also explains the skipped question and the broken counter , the current question index and result handling are probably advancing in the wrong order. I’ve fixed browser-based JavaScript quiz apps like this before, especially ones built from tutorials and then customized with new question sets. I’ll trace the score update, question index, and restart flow, then clean up the logic so correct answers, question count, and reset behavior stay in sync. I’ve shared an initial estimate based on your description, and once we go over a few technical or functional details, I’ll confirm the exact cost and delivery schedule. If you’d like, I can start by checking the answer-check function and the restart handler first. Could you share the JavaScript file where you check answers and advance to the next question, so I can pinpoint the scoring bug quickly? Thanks, Asad

IMMEDAITELY HERE TO FIX IT -----------The score issue is most likely in the answer validation logic, where the score increment is being triggered without correctly confirming that the selected answer matches the question’s correct answer. I can trace that logic, fix the score calculation, then correct the question index/counter flow and properly reset the state when Restart / Play Again is clicked. Since the app is small and has no backend, I can debug and test the complete flow within your 1–2 day timeline. Main query: Can you share the current HTML, CSS, and JS files so I can trace the existing answer and score logic directly? Please ping me to get started

Hi, I can fix your quiz issues within 1–2 days. Problem #1 is likely caused by the score variable increasing regardless of whether the selected answer matches the correct answer, or the answer-checking logic being triggered more than once. I can also fix the question counter, skipped questions, and ensure Restart resets everything to zero. Best regards Ihtsham

Hello I can quickly resolve those state-management bugs in your vanilla JavaScript quiz app. The incorrect scoring, counter offset, and restart reset issues typically stem from unreset global variables or off-by-one index loops. Using browser developer tools and clean ES6+ code, I'll audit your event listeners and state logic to ensure seamless tracking from question one to the final score screen. Would you mind sharing the current codebase or a CodePen link so I can take a look? Best regards, Giáp Văn Hưng

Hello, I can debug and fix your JavaScript quiz app within the requested 1–2 day timeframe. For problem #1 (the score increasing for incorrect answers), the most likely cause is that the score-increment logic is being triggered independently of the actual correctness check — for example, the score++ operation may be outside the if condition, the answer state may not be reset between questions, or the click handler may be attached in a way that allows an old/correct answer state to affect the next question. I would inspect the actual code to identify the precise cause rather than guessing, then fix it without unnecessarily rewriting the working parts of the app. Since the application is only around 300–400 lines and has no backend/database, this should be a focused debugging task. You can send me the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files directly from your Windows 11 laptop — GitHub is not required. I’ll keep the existing structure wherever practical, explain the root causes of the bugs, and return the corrected working files. I’m available to start immediately and can complete this within 1–2 days. Best regards Raheel
