Scanned PDFs would change this job completely. Text-based ones extract cleanly, but scans need OCR and a manual check on every number, and nobody honestly promises 100% there without that check. I've built data processing pipelines in Python, so I'd script the Word and PDF extraction into one record per row in Excel, then verify totals by hand. Roughly how many files and pages are we talking about, and are the PDFs scans or selectable text?
