I'd reconcile as I go rather than key everything in and check at the end. After each source workbook I tie the entered subtotal back to the source subtotal, so a mismatch surfaces at the workbook that caused it. Left to the end, one wrong grand total across a whole set of workbooks is very hard to trace back, and that's usually where these jobs go wrong. I do this in my day job in Abu Dhabi, in fleet and transport operations analytics: consolidating multiple Excel exports into single master files that both management and a government regulator read. Fuel transaction data, inspection records, KPI sheets. When those totals don't tie back, someone notices. Column order, date formats and currency symbols get set to your template once at the start rather than cleaned up afterwards. That matters more than it sounds - a number stored as text passes a visual check and then quietly breaks a SUM later. One thing upfront: if a figure in a source sheet doesn't add up on its own, I'll flag it rather than quietly "correct" it. An error in your source is yours to decide on, not mine to paper over.
